NoticeAbility Overview

Empowering learners, transforming lives

NoticeAbility is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping students with dyslexia identify their unique strengths and build self-esteem.

We incorporate the neuroscience of dyslexia, the best practices of special education, and the technology of Silicon Valley to construct learning curricula and teacher training programs for global distribution.

NoticeAbility has created a new paradigm for educating middle school students with dyslexia. While remedial reading programs are essential to dyslexics’ early education, the traditional school curriculum does a profound disservice to millions of

students by failing to mine the specific and powerful capabilities of the dyslexic mind.

NoticeAbility disrupts this trajectory by introducing tailored curricula to students with dyslexia at the point where they have achieved a level of reading proficiency but their negative self‐image has not yet solidified.

Once students with dyslexia come to recognise their strengths, they are more inclined to embrace their educational experience and fulfill their personal and professional potential.

    Course Description

    NoticeAbility’s multifaceted curriculum serves to unlock the potential of students with dyslexia and other reading difficulties.

    Although many students confronted with these academic challenges feel discouraged in school, this course enables them to adopt a growth mindset, learn effective strategies to innovate and create with teams of their peers, and realize their capabilities.

    When students with these challenges are provided an empowering environment crafted to meet their needs, they can change the world.

    Throughout this course, lessons, activities, and group assignments equip students with the tools necessary to succeed in school, in entrepreneurship, and in navigating challenging social and emotional experiences.

    Over ten modules (20 classes), students work in small teams to accomplish the following:

    identify a problem;

    develop a creative solution to serve as their final product;

    work through the entrepreneurial method by observing the usefulness of the product, asking others for input, and testing the product’s marketability;

    create customer personas and conduct market and stakeholder analyses;

    and, finally, apply all of their work and findings in developing a culminating presentation in the form of a product pitch.

    The course encourages students to tap into their ability to think broadly and creatively, while also providing scaffolding for them to apply critical thinking skills to improving their products from class to class.

    Under the guise of teaching entrepreneurship, the course embeds lessons that develop students’ skills in collaboration and techniques for understanding their emotions and regulating their behaviors, all while fostering a safe learning environment.
