OAT(Observe, Assess, Test)
The OAT25 Conference, organised by NoticeAbility, attended by members of the UNDN(United NoticeAbility Dyslexia Network), was hosted at The Howard School in Atlanta. It was nothing short of inspiring!
United by our shared passion for education, learning, and children, we spent the time hearing from incredible change-makers representing 10 different countries, each sharing their personal stories and powerful “why.”
From breakthroughs in dyslexia advocacy to grassroots initiatives transforming classrooms, every speaker reminded us that real change in education happens one step at a time. Their journeys — the motivation, the progress, and even the challenges — highlight the collective strength of a global community working to empower every learner.
We are honoured to be part of this movement, learning and growing alongside such passionate visionaries.
(United Noticeability Dyslexia Network)
The OAT25 Conference was hosted by NoticeAbility. It was an honour to represent Unlock Learning South Africa as part of the United NoticeAbility Dyslexia Network (UNDN) — a global collaboration of educators and innovators from across the world working to empower students with dyslexia through entrepreneurial thinking and inclusive learning.
It was exciting to connect, share insights, and contribute to the growing network of tools and strategies that help every learner reach their full potential.

Parenting a neurodiverse child can be deeply meaningful — and at times, deeply overwhelming.
At Unlock Learning South Africa, we recognise that many parents are navigating ADHD, dyslexia, processing differences, autism, anxiety, learning barriers, and other neurodiverse profiles — often feeling alone in their journey.
The Unlock Learning Parent Circle is a free online support space created especially for parents of neurodiverse children.
Because parents need support too.
We consistently meet families who are:
Trying to understand their child’s learning profile
Navigating school systems and accommodations
Supporting homework, studying, and emotional wellbeing
Advocating for their child
Carrying silent worries and unanswered questions
The Parent Circle exists to provide a safe space to share, speak, listen, and support one another.
This is not a clinical space.
It is not a judgemental space.
It is not a space for comparison.
It is a respectful, informed community where parents can:
Share experiences
Ask honest questions
Listen and learn from others
Gain practical tools
Feel seen and understood
Each session will include:
A short, practical input on a relevant topic
Open discussion and shared experiences
Time for questions
Tools and guidance you can take home immediately
Above all, you can expect warmth, confidentiality, and understanding.
By empowering parents with knowledge, confidence, and community, we strengthen the entire support system around the child.
When parents feel supported, children feel supported.
Session 1: 2 March 2026
Time: 18:00 (SAST)
Format: Online
Cost: Free
Registration closes: 23 February 2026
Teacher to Teacher Talk
Learning to read is not an innate process like learning to speak. It requires explicit, structured instruction that helps children connect sounds to symbols and build neural pathways for literacy. When this instruction is inconsistent or misunderstood, many learners struggle — often unnecessarily.
This Teacher to Teacher Talk is designed to unpack the science of reading in a practical, accessible way. We explore:
Why reading is not natural
Why some children struggle to learn to read
What dyslexia really is (and what it isn’t)
How to identify early warning signs
What educators can do when a learner is not reading by the end of the Foundation Phase
How to build classrooms that are inclusive and responsive to diverse learning needs
This session is important because reading is the foundation of all learning. When children cannot read fluently and confidently, every subject becomes a barrier. By strengthening teachers’ understanding of how reading develops — and how to respond when it doesn’t — we strengthen entire school systems.
This talk aligns directly with Unlock Learning South Africa’s mission to build capacity within educational systems, support inclusive education practices, and address barriers to learning in a practical and evidence-based way.
Bookings are now open for 2026.
